Terms & Conditions

  1. I understand that Big Budda Boom Pty Ltd does not actively “watch” the tapes or DVDs as they are being converted.
  2. I understand that Big Budda Boom Pty Ltd cannot fix glitches in your tapes or DVDs (if a tape or DVD contains a glitch, then so will the converted copy).
  3. I understand that Big Budda Boom Pty Ltd is not responsible for items lost in the mail or by couriers and realise that if I request an item be left somewhere by a courier, or by the postal services provider, it is not Big Budda Boom Pty Ltd’s responsibility if said item is stolen or removed. By informing Big Budda Boom Pty Ltd to mark an item as “signature not required” (or similar), I realise that the courier or postal services provider will likely leave the item somewhere on my property & that the safety & security of said item is up to me and has nothing to do with Big Budda Boom Pty Ltd, the postage services provider or the courier.

  7. I understand that Big Budda Boom Pty Ltd is not responsible or liable for the type of content on my tapes (refer to point about tapes not actively being watched by our staff).
  8. I understand that my goods will not be released until payment is made, cleared & settled.

Additional terms & information for USB conversion:
  1. I understand that when having videos converted to computer files, each video will generally be provided as a single file.
  2. Sometimes the converted files can be quite large (up to 10GB per file). Older computers and hard drives don’t always like single files that are this big. Keep this in mind if you run a computer or drive that’s more than 5 years old.
  3. Just like video tapes, USB drives can be affected by things such as moisture, heat, cold, strong magnets, improper storage & excessive rewrites. Just like with the rest of your computer files, we always recommend that you make a backup of the footage once you receive it.
  4. Watching on a TV? We have found consumer TV’s to be very hit & miss when playing converted video files, purely due to the sheer number of different systems and CODECs out there. Furthermore, TV manufacturers don’t always update their software (unlike a computer, which gets updates every few weeks). Additionally, some TVs don’t like large files (see Point 2 above) or USB drives that have been formatted in a certain way. What works on a computer doesn’t always work on a TV. Therefore – if you plan on watching your converted video tapes on your TV, we’d recommend converting to DVD instead – or to download our test files, unzip them to a USB stick & seeing if either of them play correctly on your TV.

TIP
"Just a quick note to thank you for your superior service. The turnaround time on my job was amazing and the DVD’s have come back in perfect condition. I was hugely impressed with the way you stayed in touch with me during the course of the job and kept me posted on how it was going & if you had any queries. I am extremely happy with the result and would not hesitate to recommend you."

"I am very grateful to BBB for the quality of transfer from my VHS tape to DVD. It's a high quality job & your service was speedy & no-nonsense. I’m pleased to have gone with a small business because there is certainly an efficiency & priority that one doesn’t always feel when dealing with a bigger chain."

"Excellent service & price. Quick & Big Budda Boom did an excellent job. Kept me informed of progress. Friendly service, Andy was great to talk to. Price was less than a 1/3 of what I could get locally, that factoring in postage also. Highly recommend."

"I just wanted to send you a quick email to say thank you very much for all your work with the video conversion. All of them work great now and we’ve had no further issues watching any of them. Also my grandmother was extremely happy to finally be able to watch videos of us when we were young again since our VCR stopped working many years ago. My mum also wanted to thank you for your help as she was concerned that they were so old that we would no longer be able to convert them (hence the sudden rush last year to try and get them done). But you did a great job with all of them and she was very pleased that all of them were able to be converted. Thank you again very much from all of us for all your help."

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost?

Please refer to our booking form above - as it differs based on the services you select.

Can I drop off my tapes?

Yes! Drop-offs are available on weekends & certain days during the week. Just select this option on the booking form when you fill it in.

Do you have an express service?

Yes, though increased charges apply. If you have an express conversion, please choose this option when filling out our booking form.

What video tapes can you convert?

We can convert the following tape types to DVD or USB: VHS, VHS-C, MiniDV and Hi8 / Digital8.

Can you do custom edits?

Yes we can – please contact us for pricing, as it’ll be specific to your requirements. We also have a video editing page that might be of interest.

Can you convert to different computer formats?

Yes - we can convert to a number of digital formats - including .MP4, .AVI, .MOV and other common / web formats.

Can you convert store-bought tapes?

According to current copyright laws (at the time of writing), you are allowed to make one copy for your own backup purposes – if you own the original video tape.

However, should the tape employ its own copy protection system (e.g. Macrovision), then our system is generally physically be unable to make a copy. We can certainly try it for you, though!

Do I get my tapes back afterwards?

Absolutely - although from time to time, we have had clients ask us not to return them since they had no way of playing them anyway. It’s up to you!

How does payment work?

Once we receive your tapes, we’ll start converting them and email you an invoice. Once the conversion is finished, and the invoice is paid, your items will be dispatched.

Can you repair a broken tape?

Most of the time, yes. If the physical magnetic tape has ‘snapped’. then we will often attempt a repair at a small additional fee. However, it depends on the amount of damage and where the break is - so each tape is assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Can you convert from reels?

Unfortunately not, just tapes in a plastic tape caddy - like your regular VCR video tapes (and similar - including camcorder tapes).

Still got questions?

Just get in touch and we’d be happy to help!
